Frequently Asked Questions
Minimum Earned Premium – what does it mean?
In order to issue a policy, the insurance carrier charges a minimum, non-refundable premium. This amount is currently $450.00. If the insurance premium calculator, which uses your current student count to calculate your premium, indicates a premium of $450.00 you will not receive any type of refund if you decide to cancel your policy prior to it expiring. If your premium (based upon your student count) exceeds $450.00, you may, upon cancelling, receive a prorated amount that is in excess of the $450.00 minimum.
Example: Your premium is $720.00. You decide to cancel your policy after 3 months of it being in effect. Your refund would be $270.00 ($720.00 - $450.00) less the prorated amount for the three months of coverage. That prorated amount is determined by the insurance carrier and will be less than the $270.00.
